Photography Training

In this workshop we had a ex-photographer and a teacher from our school give us pointers on how to take a good photograph. I learnt how to do this by focusing on  the 4 key points of;

  1. composition
  2. exposure
  3. lighting effects
  4. post-production

The most important of all 4 is composition and using the 'rule of thirds', where the focus of the frame should be on certain points in the photo.

Also, exposure is very important for the quality of the photo. Using either high key or low key settings on the camera to keep the histograms on normal exposure to ensure you take the best photograph.

The lighting effects of high key and low key have a big impact of the outcome of the shot. They can highlight a section of the photo that needs to be enhanced more than the rest separating the object from the background. Also, lighting effects the atmosphere of the photograph, low key lighting is very mysterious, maybe used for a movie poster whereas high key lighting is bright and happy, used for photo shoots etc.
